Event Info

The William Tennent High School Alumni Association and the William Tennent High School Administration are sponsoring the fourth annual Veterans’ Day program to be held on Friday, November 11, 2016.

The program will be held on the second floor of the high school directly above the lobby that is located just inside the main entrance by the flag pole.  Parking assistance will be available in front of the high school as you enter at the far left entrance off of Centennial Road.  The school is located at 333 Centennial Road, Warminster, PA 18974.

The program will begin at 8:00 A.M. and conclude at 9:30 A.M. This program is open to anyone and upon entering the building, you will be required to present a government issued picture identification card for security purposes.  An elevator will be available for access to the second floor. Light refreshments will also be available.  Those who attend are encouraged to wear their uniform.  If you know veterans who would like to attend, please bring them with you.

There are forty-eight new names of veterans which will be included on the Veterans Wall this year.  If you are one of those veterans, your name and military branch will be read as part of the program.  When your name is read, please stand, and remain standing until all names are read. Veterans who are William Tennent graduates or attended William Tennent for a minimum of two years, can request being added to the wall. At the end of the program, some veterans will serve as panelists who will interact with students as a classroom activity.  The number of panelists will be determined by the number of classrooms that will be involved with this activity.

The guest speaker for this program will be Susan Gormely Carter, a 1998 William Tennent graduate who is the only Tennent female graduate to attend the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis.  After graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy, she served as a Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer on the USS Coronado 3rd Fleet Command Ship and the USS Ronald Reagan Aircraft Carrier in San Diego, CA.  She deployed to the Persian Gulf and West Pacific in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and freedom of navigation operations.  Susan also served in the Joint Terrorism Task Force–Combatting Terrorism at the Defense Intelligence Agency, Bolling Air Force Base.  Currently, Susan manages all Hull, Machinery and Electrical engineering support for deployed aircraft carriers at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at the Philadelphia Naval Business Center.   She is married to Dr. Raymond Carter, a former Naval Flight Surgeon, and is the mother of two children, Ellie and Russell.
